Arrears

Being behind on repayments on a loan that is still running. Arrears are not the same as a default listing, but sustained arrears usually lead to one and will show in the repayment history on your credit report. Contact the lender early, since hardship arrangements are available and are far easier to negotiate before the account deteriorates.
