Bank Guarantee
An undertaking by a bank to pay a third party a set amount if its customer fails to meet an obligation, commonly used in place of a cash bond for a commercial lease. The bank normally requires the amount to be secured by cash or property. It is a contingent liability, so it reduces the security available for other borrowing.
