Contractor

Someone engaged to provide services under a contract rather than as an employee, usually invoicing through an ABN and responsible for their own tax and super. Lenders may treat a contractor as self-employed or, where the arrangement looks employment like, as PAYG with a shorter history requirement. Long term contractors in professional and trade fields often qualify under more favourable policies than a general self-employed applicant.
